Joel's 21st!

Joel's 21st birthday celebration was held in a truly grand fashion - a buffet dinner treat for his 60 or so guests at a rather fancy hotel. All of us were invited of course, and Joel took the trouble of hand-writing invitation cards with directions for everyone. He had taken weeks if not months to plan and prepare this joyous celebration of age, and I believe this day came with much anticipation from most of us.

The buffet was well-spread with a balanced mix of appetizers, deserts and main dishes. The dinner was also hosted by his sporting parents, who entertained the guests while Joel scuttled around making sure everything was going as planned. And it did, with a simple service held beforehand leading up to the highlight of the night, when Joel sang his twice talentine-winning rendition of Moulin Rouge's Come What May. All of which took place concurrently as we had our meal.

We didn't really get to see much of Joel that night, as he was mostly busy with his relatives and other friends. But we can definitely say that we enjoyed ourselves, and it was awfully kind of Joel to treat us all to such an exclusive buffet.
